Production Blog: film

Me, Jayden, Daniel, and Myles have all planned to do different things during the making of our film. Since it was a horror film, we had to find costumes to use for the main villain. We couldn't come to a decision since if we bought a bad costume, it might of lead to the scene being corny instead of scary. The hardest part was deciding who would be the main villain. We decided on Jayden being the villain since he volunteered for it and fit more costumes better. The main villain also needed a weapon, and we decided on a machete since all of us like the Friday the 13th films and that inspired us to use one. We were ready to bring our opening sequence to life. The final step was buying all the necessary items we needed and going to a film location. However, this was a little difficult since we all had different schedules, and we have to find a time that works for all of us. We are still planning to do the scenes the same as how we planned before but we as a group decided to possibly edit the script. This was because while reading the script out loud we realized a couple of lines felt out of place and corny. The problem with writing a horror film is making the film actually scary and not corny. Since any out of place line or joke can turn the film into a comedy instead of a horror. Daniel was the creator of the script and since he's used to making more humorous things we decided some lines needed editing. We still have yet to decide who will film what scene and what camera we will use. A bad camera can make the film look choppy and not scary. If we also film improperly with a bad camera man the film will seem unprofessional and choppy. Lighting played a crucial role in establishing the atmosphere. Therefore, we picked a location that was dark yet still visible, some woods near Myles house. We planned to use shadows and contrasts to add depth and drama to the scenes we film. But, this all comes after we find a date when we can all film.
